What is Search Engine Marketing?
Search Engine Marketing (SEM) is a form of Internet marketing that allows you to promote a website by increasing its visibility in Search Engine Result Pages (SERPs) through paid advertising. Digital advertising is a great way to generate new leads and increase brand awareness. At CentraTech Solutions, we can create and manage an effective SEM campaign for you and ensure you are targeting only the potential customers that would benefit you the most.
Payment Methods
1. Cost Per Click (CPC)
Cost Per Click (CPC), also known as Pay Per Click (PPC), is a model of online marketing in which you pay a fee each time one of your ads is clicked. Essentially, instead of paying just for an advertisement to be displayed, you are only paying when the advertisement works and someone clicks through to your website.
2. Cost Per Thousand Impressions (CPM)
Cost Per Thousand (CPM) is a term used to denote the price of 1,000 advertisement impressions. The “M” in CPM represents the Roman numeral for 1,000. This is also sometimes denoted as CPI or Cost Per Impressions. Using this method, you are billed every time your advertisement has been viewed 1,000 times, whether it has been clicked or not.
Which Payment Model is Best?
Different pricing methods are more appropriate for some ad campaigns than others. CPM makes the most sense for a campaign focused on heightening brand awareness or delivering a specific message. In this case, the exposure from having an ad prominently placed on a high-traffic website helps promote a company’s brand name or message even if visitors do not actually click on the ad. If your goal is to get the word out about your business or product, this is the option for you.
Companies focused less on mass appeal and more on promoting a specific product to a niche audience are generally better served if they gravitate towards CPC advertising. This is usually preferred since you only have to pay when visitors actually visit your website. However, if you have a high Click-Through Rate (CTR) then this option can prove to be more expensive.
